🌱 Little Free Libraries + The Humane Society Of Yuma Asks For Help

Hey Yuma! It’s me, Danielle Fallon, your host of the Yuma Daily. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s happening locally.

First, today’s weather:

Sunny and very warm. High: 102 Low: 67.

Here are the top three stories in Yuma today:

  1. Little Free Libraries are spreading the joy of reading in Yuma. The little libraries are part of a nonprofit organization with more than 100,000 registered book-sharing locations globally. You can find your closest little free library or to learn how to start your own at Little Free Library. (KYMA)
  2. The Humane Society of Yuma is reportedly at full capacity. The shelter is requesting the community’s help in adopting pets to free up capacity for new intakes. Click to fill out an adoption application. Can’t adopt? The shelter is also seeking donations. (Human Society of Yuma)
  3. A pilot and co-pilot have been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross – the highest decoration for flying. Capt. Michael Wolff and Maj. Cory Jones were given the award for their efforts during a midair collision that occurred during training at The Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course in Yuma. The incident occurred in 2020 when a KC-130J Super Hercules collided with an F-35. (Task And Purpose)

Today in Yuma:

  • NAU Virtual BSN (Nursing) Session At Arizona Western College (2:00 PM)
  • Coffee With A Cop At Cafecito (11:00 AM)

From my notebook:

  • the Art smart camp will be hosting four different sessions this summer. Click for the full list of sessions and for additional information. (City of Yuma)
  • the Taco and Tunes Block Party will be on Oct. 8 this year. Participants will enjoy cold beer, a car show, yard games, and TACOS! Save the date! (City of Yuma)
  • School is out for the 2021-2022 school year but it isn’t too early to mark your calendars for the 2022 Back to School Rodeo. This year’s event will be on Jul. 16 at the Yuma Civic Center starting at 7:00 am (City of Yuma)

You’re all caught up for today. I’ll see you soon!
