🌱 Burglaries Decrease In Yuma Metro + Title 42 Concerns

First, today’s weather:

Here are the top three stories today in Yuma:

  1. Newly released data shows that burglaries in the Yuma metro area have decreased by more than 17 percent since 2019. According to the data, Yuma experienced 653 burglaries in 2020. The data is provided through the Federal Bureau of Investigations 2019 and 2020 Uniform Crime Reports. (The Center Square)
  2. The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office reports that the conservative movie “2000 Mules” did not cause him to open an investigation. The film’s creative made the claim during an appearance on a conservative podcast. The Yuma Sherriff reports that its investigation into voter misconduct began more than a year ago and is not related to or inspired by the film. (AZ Mirror)
  3. Border patrol agents at the Yuma Sector are concerned that the end of Title 42 will encourage more asylum seekers. Currently, the sector is reportedly encountering up to 1,5000 asylum seekers each day. Title 42 is a public health order that allows border agents to expel migrants immediately after apprehension to prevent the spread of COVID-19 across the border. (My Wabash Valley)
