Freeway improvement projects across Arizona are set to continue this weekend, and the Arizona Department of Transportation announced the next round of closures and restrictions.
Notable closures will be seen along stretches of the US 60, Interstate 17 and Interstate 10.
ADOT is advising drivers to allow for extra time and plan alternate routes. Traffic conditions can always be checked at az511.gov.
Westbound Interstate 10
Details: Westbound I-10 will be closed between Loop 202 and US 60 for construction. The following ramps will be closed:
- On ramps at Wild Horse Pass Boulevard and Chandler Boulevard.
- All Loop 202 ramps to westbound I-10.
- Eastbound US 60 on-ramp at Priest Drive.
When: 10 pm Friday, Jan 27, to 10 pm Saturday, Jan 28.
Alternate routes: ADOT suggests using alternate freeway routes such as Loop 202 (Santan) to northbound Loop 101 in Chandler to reach westbound US 60. Drivers can also utilize west/northbound Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) to reach I-10 in west Phoenix.
Eastbound Interstate 10
Details: Eastbound I-10 will be closed between US 60 and Loop 202 for construction. The following ramps will be closed:
- Westbound US 60 ramp to eastbound I-10.
- Eastbound US 60 off and on-ramps at Mill Avenue.
- Both HOV ramps between I-10 and US 60.
When: 10 pm Saturday, Jan. 28, to 4 am Monday, Jan. 30.
Alternate routes: Drivers can use eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) starting at the I-10/SR 51 “mini stack” to southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) in Tempe to westbound Loop 202 (Santan) in Chandler to reach I-10.
Drivers detouring eastbound US 60 can use southbound Loop 101 to westbound Loop 202.
West Valley drivers can use south/eastbound Loop 202 (South Mountain) to reach I-10 past the closure.
Northbound Interstate 17
Details: Northbound I-17 will be closed between Northern Avenue and Greenway Road in north Phoenix for a pavement improvement project. Northbound I-17 on-ramps at Bethany Home Road and Glendale Avenue will also be closed.
When: 9 pm Friday, Jan 27, to 5 am Monday, Jan 30.
Alternate routes: Drivers can use northbound SR 51 and westbound Loop 101 as an alternate freeway route to reach I-17 past the closure. Drivers can also consider exiting ahead of the closure and using 19th or 35th avenues.
East bound US 60
Details: Eastbound US 60 will be closed between Val Vista Drive and Power Road for a pavement improvement project. Eastbound US 60 on-ramps at Stapley Drive and Gilbert Road will also be closed.
When: 9 pm Friday, Jan 27, to 5 am Monday, Jan 30.
Alternate routes: Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain or Santan) can be used as detours. Drivers can also consider exiting ahead of the closure, using eastbound Baseline Road or Southern Avenue to travel past the closure.
Westbound Loop 303
Details: Westbound Loop 303 will be closed between I-17 and Lake Pleasant Parkway for new interchange construction.
When: 5 on Saturday, Jan. 28, to 8 pm Sunday, Jan. 29.
Alternate routes: Drivers can use westbound SR 74 to southbound Lake Pleasant Parkway to travel past the closure.
