1 dead, 5 injured after a tow truck in Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF, AZ – One person died and five other cyclists were injured after being hit by a tow truck that was hauling a moving truck on Friday night.

The Flagstaff Police Department said they responded at the intersection of Butler Avenue and Beaver Street to get a report of a serious collision around 7 p.m.

Officers say when they arrived they found a tow truck that gave a red light as they drove west through the intersection and met a group of cyclists heading south on Beaver Street.

Six cyclists were hit by the truck and one driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Four of the drivers were taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment and one refused treatment.

Police say the driver has been identified as a 58-year-old Normand Cloutier.

The collision is currently under investigation and no arrest has been made.
