1 man useless, 1 injured after a murder-suicide attempt in Flagstaff

One man is dead and another injured after attempting suicide in a parking lot in Flagstaff early Friday morning.

Flagstaff Police Department spokesman Sgt. Charles Hernandez said the shooting occurred near 2:05 a.m. near Humphreys Street and Columbus Avenue.

When officers arrived, Hernandez said they found two men with “gunshot wounds” near a pickup truck at the south end of the parking lot.

Investigators later found that 28-year-old Troy Dean Brundle from Mesa allegedly shot and killed 27-year-old Travis McCluskey from Gilbert before he shot himself.

McCluskey was shot in the stomach and taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for “emergency medical treatment,” Hernandez said. Its condition is unknown.

Brundle was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Hernandez said.

Criminal Investigation detectives also responded to the scene and learned that the two men were friends and had been involved in an altercation before the shooting began.

That investigation is still ongoing, said Hernandez.
