2 Tucson pharmacies have just started selling adult marijuana

Downtown Dispensary, a Tucson cannabis dispensary at the intersection of 6th Avenue and 6th Street, has just completed its first week selling recreational marijuana. D2 Pharmacy, an East Tucson cannabis dispensary at the intersection of 22nd Street and Kolb Road, now serves medical marijuana patients and adults aged 21 and over in one of the fastest growing parts of the city. More than 40 people have been employed in the retail and production facilities since the end of December 2020.

Downtown & D2’s leadership and management teams are tracking and modifying day-to-day logistical operations as the expansion into recreational sales to ensure that returning medical marijuana patients and new 21+ recreational customers are served quickly and efficiently. Mohit “Moe” Asnani is an alum from Eller College of Management who worked in health information systems prior to entering the cannabis industry. Charles “Chip” Boyden is a US Army veteran who previously worked in the healthcare and financial markets.

“Many Tucson cannabis retailers are locally owned, but how many can say that most of the products on their shelves are locally made and sustainably packaged?” said Moe Asnani. “Our goal is to grow quickly and sustainably, taking into account the fragility of our environment and the health and well-being of our team. That is why we founded ECOPRIDE and offer our employees a solid performance plan. “

For the past seven years, Downtown & D2 Dispensaries have developed the iLAVA line of products, including iLAVA Touch, Arizona’s best-selling current cannabis. All iLAVA ClearGold, Atomic, Δ8 Clarity and Entourage Vape packaging are 95% + plastic-free with customer-specific inserts made from molded fiber pulp. iLAVA vape hardware is only made of glass and ceramic. iLAVA Magma and Lumen Extracts are packaged in German glass containers. The Touch ECOPRIDE ™ Edition is made of bamboo, just like the lid from iLAVA FEEL.

New brands based on sustainability and developed by the group include Zenzona Vegan Edibles and HiKeto! ketogenic foods are available in both stores. Both product lines use sustainable packaging, including rice paper bags and kraft paper. The group is also launching a new 12-pack pre-roll product this month that is packaged in hemp plastic. Only locally grown DTF cannabis is packaged in the new pre-roll containers. The locally produced sleep-related product line Indica PM is packaged in plastic containers with quick dismantling and will be switched to rice paper bags in the second quarter of 2021.

The Downtown & D2 Dispensaries are well on their way to expanding to over 200 local employees in 2021.

Arizona passed Prop 207, legalizing recreational marijuana for adults ages 21 and older, in 2020, and pharmacies across the state were licensed to sell adult marijuana by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHD) in early 2021.
