2020 Yuma County Employee of the Year nominees announced

Awards include cash prizes and recognition throughout the month

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma County government announced its list of nominees for both Yuma County’s 2020 Employees and 2020 Supreme Court Employees.

Nominees will be introduced during the regular meeting of the Yuma County Board of Supervisors (YCBS) on Monday, April 5th at 9:00 am. The winners will be announced at the regular meeting of the Yuma County Regulatory Board on Monday, April 19 at 9:00 am.

2020 Yuma County Employees Nominees:

  • Brenda Cervantes – Scholarship and Special Projects Administrator, Library District
  • Jesus Cervantes – IT Security Administrator, Information Technology Services
  • Brenda Mendez – Compliance Officer, Financial Services
  • Jessica Rodriguez – Assistant Director, Human Resources

2020 Yuma County Supreme Court Nominee Employees:

  • Erin Ballos – mediator of the mediation court, court administration
  • Stephanie Pla – Probation Officer, Adult Probation Service
  • Daniel Salcido – network / system administrator, juvenile court

Candidates are selected to meet the following criteria. Only one nomination is allowed per department:

  • Must be a full-time employee with at least two years of service by December 31, 2020.
  • Must have received a “Met Expectations” or higher performance rating in the last two review periods.
  • It must be proven that the basic values ​​of the county or the judicial canons of the Supreme Court were promoted.
  • Developed demonstrable cost savings for the county or the Supreme Court through ideas or suggestions.

The nominations are checked by a “Merit Award System Board” appointed by the YCBS. Each first place winner will receive a plaque and award of $ 1,000 (after tax). The remaining nominees share an additional $ 1,000.

This year the superiors chose the color pink to express their gratitude and appreciation to all employees in the district. The Yuma County Courthouse and 198/197 S. Main Street locations will be illuminated in pink for Yuma County Government Employee Appreciation Month in April.

The Board of Supervisors will also decide who will be the winner of the 2020 Safety Excellence Award from a field of 12 nominees.

  • Miguel Saldana (juvenile court)
  • Robert Torres (Adult Probation)
  • Donnet Villegas (Adult Probation)

The Safety Excellence Award Committee reviews all nominations and submits final candidates to the Yuma County Merit Award System Board. From there, the Merit Board reviews the award winner and gives them a final recommendation of the award winner.

Those who win the 2020 Yuma County Safety Excellence Award will receive a recognition badge and $ 250 (after tax).

The award ceremony is sponsored by the YCBS.
