3 valuable free agents to be won

On their way through the storm of the independent NBA agency, the Phoenix Suns have already managed to win a few big names – especially welcoming some old friends.

Although many expected veteran point guard Chris Paul signed a new deal with the Suns this summer, which he eventually closed after roughly 45 minutes of league-wide fire sale, very few expected Cameron Payne to return as well, especially bargaining with such a friendly team. But one way or another, the Suns will be well-equipped at the point guard field for the foreseeable future, with both players in office until at least 2024.

A day later, the Suns also brought back Abdel Nader, who was tied to the minimum veteran’s contract to keep him with the Suns for the next two seasons. Last year, Nader averaged just 6.7 points per game but shot 41.9 percent from the outside, making him a potentially entertaining prospect to watch as he progresses.

However, the Phoenix front office turned some heads after signing JaVale McGee, who played minimal for both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Denver Nuggets last year. The journeyman’s center adds much needed size to the suns and fills the hole left by Dario Saric after the injury.

Where are we now? The Suns still have four open squad spots to fill at this point, and while most of the unsigned players have already found new homes, that is still not the case.

But at this point, finding value within the crowd of free agents will be like finding a needle in a haystack. Still, to make the right additions, let this guide act as a magnet for the suns.
