49-year-old man fatally struck in west Phoenix collision

Phoenix police investigated a pedestrian collision in west Phoenix that killed a 49-year-old man.

Officers responded to a collision in the area of ​​43rd Avenue and Thomas Road at about 7:20 pm Sunday and found a man on the road with “obvious signs of trauma,” according to Phoenix police. The man, later identified as Sendergeya Kabundi, was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The driver involved wasn’t injured and stayed at the scene. Police said there was no indication that impairment was a factor in the collision.

Detectives learned Kabundi was using the crosswalk when he was struck. It was unclear what led to the collision.
