5:10 to Yuma returning in June – Yuma Pioneer
The organizers of 5:10 to Yuma are excited to announce that the race will be back for 2021.
Saturday June 19th is the date and both 5K and 10K course options will be available.
“We’re thrilled to be able to give Yuma the more ‘traditional’ 5:10 experience in both 5km and 10km,” said Race Director Alice Swanson Metzler. “We were happy we could do something in 2020, but boy , we are happy to be back in full swing. “
Although it’s a quick turnaround, the June 19 date makes sense, Metzler said.
“Many races have already been postponed to autumn 2021,” she said. “We wanted to take advantage of the lighter restrictions in our region and hopefully reach participants from outside the region who are just ready to run live. We’re going to market the race across Colorado in hopes of seducing some of these people. “
The details of the route are currently being finalized, but both races will most likely start and end downtown this year.
“We like showcasing downtown Yuma and giving companies the opportunity to be open and take advantage of customers on the finish line,” said Metzler.
There will be a finish line festival celebration and details will be compiled and announced in the coming week. The proceeds from the race will go towards renovating the Yuma Museum.
The race is looking for sponsors and volunteers. If you are interested, please contact Alice at 303-918-2819 or [email protected].
