YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – A child is dead in a house fire in Yuma. The flames brought an adult and a second child to the hospital.

The Yuma Fire Department (YFD) says the fire started shortly before 10 am Monday morning in Block 100 of West 21st Place. When the fire brigade arrived, they found smoke and flames from the house. They also learned that one of the nine children who lived in the home was missing.

Firefighters went into the burning house to rescue the youth. They found the child but couldn’t save his life. Flames injured an adult and a second child, but they survived.

The fire caused considerable property damage to the house. It is not habitable. The American Red Cross helps the family.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
