A year later, the Tucson Unified School District welcomes students and staff back to the classrooms.

TUCSON (KVOA) – Monday is a busy morning for many as the Tucson Unified School District is bringing the majority of students and staff back to the classrooms for the first time in a year.

TUSD, the largest school district in southern Arizona, will switch to a hybrid learning format on Monday.

It was March 15, 2020 when Governor Ducey announced that all schools in Arizona would be temporarily closed.

Then, on March 30, 2020, it was announced that they would have to remain closed for the remainder of the 2020 school year.

During the current school year, all school districts in the Tucson area made the transition to hybrid learning at some point … with the exception of TUSD. It’s your turn now.

Classes will be half the size or smaller, wearing masks is a must, no outside visitors are allowed, improved cleaning and disinfection is taking place daily and more.

TUSD has 89 schools. Many employees and students from these 89 schools will commute for the first time in a while on Monday morning. Keep this in mind when you go out to work.

You can find more information on TUSD’s plans, resources, COVID-19 information and dashboard here.
