Adventureland’s 11-year-old victim was from the Cedar Rapids area, GoFundMe page set up for the family
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) – The 11-year-old boy who was killed on the Raging River ride at Adventureland Park over the weekend was from the Cedar Rapids area.
Michael Jaramillo’s family attended Christian Life Church at Cedar Rapids, which has set up a GoFundMe page to help the family.
“We are grateful that Michael gave his life to Jesus last year and that we are completely sure that he will be with Jesus forever,” said a Facebook post from the church. “Until we see you again, Michael, we will continue the work of the gospel.”
The GoFundMe page has surpassed its goal of raising $ 10,000 for the Michael Jaramillo family in just eight hours since it was launched. It currently stands at $ 11,960 as of Tuesday afternoon.
The site also states that the other minor who is in critical condition is Michael’s brother David, who will turn 16 on Wednesday. All funds on the site are passed on “in full to the Jaramillo family”.
Early Tuesday, Michael’s father David Jaramillo told ABC’s Good Morning America about the Saturday night accident and said all six family members were trapped after their boat fell over.
Adventureland had voluntarily stopped operating the drive after Saturday, but on Tuesday a regulatory agency ordered the park not to resume driving until the accident was investigated.
This marks the second Raging River voyage death in five years, the previous one being an employee in 2016.
