Calgary-based extrusion maker APEL Extrusions will establish its new 323,782 square meter headquarters and manufacturing facility in Phoenix, Arizona, and acquire 22.6 acres of land. The company intends to employ around 200 people.
APEL will expand its west coast operations to Phoenix in late 2022 and plans to relocate the company’s headquarters, according to the Arizona Commerce Authority. The new facility will have 12 entrance doors, three dock doors, a clearance height of 30 feet and two crane bays.
“With our expansion into Phoenix, APEL can truck to any city on the west coast in two days or less, further reducing our already industry-leading lead times,” said Mike Flynn, president and COO of APEL Extrusions. “By installing the most advanced extrusion and finishing equipment in the North American industry, APEL is becoming the benchmark for customers who expect the best from their extrusion supplier in terms of product quality, service and on-time performance.”
The Phoenix facility was strategically planned to help APEL better serve its west coast customers and open up the opportunity for new customers and markets in the southwest and further east that could not previously be efficiently reached.
“Arizona is excited to welcome APEL Extrusion’s high-performance facility to our state – the company’s second location outside of Canada,” said Governor Doug Ducey. “With our growing talent pool, low business costs, and strategic location, no state in the country is better placed to meet the needs of advanced manufacturers. My thanks go to the Arizona Commerce Authority, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council. City of Phoenix, and everyone Partners involved in this exciting announcement, as well as the team at APEL Extrusions for our state election. We look forward to working on its success for decades to come. “
