Arizona Edition: Mosquito test positive on West Nile in Yuma County

Mosquito test samples in Yuma County showed positive cases of West Nile virus, a mosquito-borne disease that can be transmitted to humans.

The virus has flu-like symptoms and can cause inflammation in the brain and spine.

While no positive West Nile cases have been reported among residents of Yuma County, managing this risk is of the utmost importance.

In this episode of the Arizona Edition, KAWC’s Lou Gum spoke to Elene Stefanikos, district pest control manager for Yuma County, and Jennifer Alspach, director of the Cocopah Environmental Protection Bureau, to find out how the tests are being conducted and how you can help.
