ASU Seeks Help From Yuma COVID-19 Website, Volunteers Receive Pfizer Vaccine

The university works with HandsOn Greater Phoenix

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – Arizona State University (ASURE) research firm is seeking non-clinical volunteers to fill over 900 positions in support of an upcoming Yuma COVID-19 vaccination site. ASURE is working with HandsOn Greater Phoenix to register and schedule volunteers.

Volunteers are expected to help check in patients, confirm dates, and provide logistical support. All tasks require standing / moving for most of the shift.

Mobile wheelchair users can also volunteer. Each volunteer is asked to limit personal items to what they can carry themselves.

There is no on-site volunteer registration. All volunteers must register in advance and receive confirmation.

Important information for volunteers:

  • At least 18 years old.
  • Voluntary parking and check-in (parking and check-in card).
  • Volunteer Waiver (must be completed and emailed to [email protected] within 72 hours of your shift) (ASURE Volunteer Waiver).
  • The vaccine consent form must be printed out, completed and brought with you to expedite registration of your vaccine. Please be sure to fill out the contact information, signature, and first or second dose (Arizona Department of Health vaccination authorization form).
  • No weapons are allowed at the vaccination site.
  • Please bring photo ID with you to confirm your identity when registering.
  • Volunteers receive a meal and drinks.
  • Volunteers are asked to come with their own face mask.
  • To check in, access your QR code “Access Pass” on your smartphone. You should take a screenshot or bring a printed copy of your QR code with you in case internet access is restricted on site (information below).

Access to your QR code “Access Pass”

  • Log into your account at handsonphoenix.org.
  • After you have signed in, your account page will load. If you’re already signed in, find the Volunteer option on the website and select My Account.
  • In the Upcoming Opportunities field, next to the appropriate opportunity, select Access Pass.
  • Be ready to present your QR code upon check-in.

Registration must be made via the HandsOn website, subject to availability. While the team is happy to assist with technical issues with the registration process, they ask the public to avoid phone calls or emails to sign up once the slots are full.
