At Yuma Lodge 17 there is an annual barbecue fundraising event

A 37-year tradition with a twist – reports Arlette Yousif from News 11

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – The 501C organization has a long history of contributing to the community. As times have changed due to COVID, Yuma Lodge 17 has also changed for its biggest event of the year.

What would normally be a large convention center gathering with 30 or more vendors is now a drive-through pickup service. Even so, today’s fundraiser was still a success.

“This is our 37th annual barbecue. So we’ve been doing this for a while. We usually do this in the convention center, but because of COVID and what’s going on, we had to make a return trip here at the Masonic Lodge … um, which we’ve been doing pretty well so far “Says Yuma Lodge 17’s venerable master Mikel White.

The passage took place today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. directly in front of the lodge.

The proceeds from the fundraiser flow into daily operating costs. It is also used for student grants and scholarships, and supports the Bike for Books program.

On Sunday in the evening edition of News 11, Arlette Yousif has the full report.
