Authorities warn of rabid skunks in Flagstaff

Flagstaff police are warning the public of rabid skunks within the city limits. Authorities say at least four skunks have tested positive for rabies and further tests are pending. You are not isolated to a particular district. Signs that a skunk has the deadly disease include daytime sightings of the nocturnal animals and strange, erratic, or unusually aggressive behavior. Police are urging people to keep their pets on a leash and make sure their rabies vaccinations are up to date. If you find a deceased animal, the authorities say you will not treat it and contact the police immediately.
