Beth Phoenix on a possible dream match with Becky Lynch [Exclusive]

Never say never … Beth Phoenix will be the first to admit this is a clichéd answer, but it’s the answer she has for now to return to one of the hottest feuds of 2019. This is one of the hottest Twitter feuds of 2019 to be precise.

At the height of her meteoric rise to WWE Superstar, Becky Lynch never stepped back from a challenge, nor was she the least bit shy about putting down one. No potential opponent attracted as much attention as it did when The Man threw the glove into the WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix.

“She is a woman who paved the way. I am the man who is paving the way right now. I want opposition. I want opponents. I want someone who has proven themselves, who has worked in this business for a long time, who has taken care of this business, who has run this business, who hasn’t always got the recognition they deserve, but I want this person to be it goes up and challenges me because I want to be challenged. And I think Beth Phoenix can challenge me. “H T Daily DDT

That is what Becky Lynch said to Cathy Kelly during a WWE Now interview in June 2019. That same month, we saw a highly entertaining exchange of social media pokes and insults between her and Beth Phoenix.

While Beth Phoenix is promoting the new WWE Network documentary “HEAVEN” with SK Wrestling, she was asked about the 2019 online rivalry. Of course, a lot has changed between then and now, but is there any chance we might see Becky Lynch versus Beth Phoenix one day?

“I say this all the time, I’ll get myself in trouble, but like it’s the never-say-never scenario. Right? I’m one of Becky’s biggest fans. When we talk about breaking down barriers, she definitely is one of those women who, as you know, were on the front lines eliminating the female superstar category. She’s just a superstar, right? And we could say that about so many of our WWE women, but yeah, I mean “Never say never. I hate that answer. It’s like the most unsatisfactory answer ever, but that’s where we live in the half-retirement life.”

Since retiring, Beth Phoenix has returned to play four WWE games – all multi-woman games. She participated in the 2018 and 2020 women’s Royal Rumble Games. She competed in a tag team match with eight women on RAW prior to WrestleMania 35 and then played with Natalya in the women’s tag team championship game at WrestleMania 35.

Beth Phönix’s last single game was against AJ Lee in the October 29th edition of Monday Night RAW in 2012. That said, there is no question that The Glamazon can still make it in the ring. A little over a year ago she had a very impressive show at the Royal Rumble. She lasted over 27 minutes and finished the last three despite having a pretty bad head wound during the fight.

If a single game with Becky Lynch is out of the question, would Beth Phoenix go for a dream mixed tag team match?

👏👏👏 @BeckyLynchWWE! Unless … I’ll keep improving on comments … while you’ll never be able to lace my boots.

As if the epic Twitter rivalry between Becky Lynch and Beth Phoenix wasn’t fun enough, The Rated-R Superstar found himself right in the middle of the action. The entire exchange was sort of an off-screen follow-up to a Cutting Edge interview on an episode of SmackDown in 2018 in which The Man shot a bold shot at Edge’s (at the time) career-related neck injury.

Oh wait what? Is that still happening? Sorry The Man I got bored after your last weak tweet and walked away. Kind of like me when your matches come. Huh. You liked puns before you were “cool”, right? Reviews jugger-not. And again I say, Begone Little. https://t.co/J2IwRrXK6s

It may have been forever and a day now, but at the time of these tweets, Edge was still retired. Not only was he retired, but there was general consensus that he had no chance of ever competing in a ring again. As mentioned earlier, a lot has changed since then.

What was once a dream scenario is suddenly a very real possibility. Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins versus Beth Phoenix and Edge in a mixed tag team match for the ages. Before getting too excited about these two couples competing against each other, Phoenix told SK Wrestling that if this match ever happens, there won’t be a decline anytime soon.

“We wanted to retire, but things are coming up. Adventures are coming up. Exciting things are coming up. But right now I think Adam’s plate is pretty full. So I don’t know if he has room for mixed tags.” “

Edge (real name Adam Copeland) has a very busy schedule for the next few weeks as he prepares to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 37. Not to mention the fact that Becky Lynch is still incapacitated after giving birth to her daughter in December.

You’d better believe, however, that Edge would want to do business with Seth Rollins at some point. Rollins literally threatened to kill him on live television, especially now that he can take revenge for the one time.

If WWE is able to add Becky Lynch and Beth Phoenix to the mix, it will only get better. Phoenix jokingly told SK Wrestling that they would, but only on one condition.

“Only when all of our children are at the ring to give us weapons (laughs).”
