Chabad Tucson celebrates Rosh Hashanah

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) – The Jewish community will hold Rosh Hashanah Monday evening through Wednesday.

It is a celebration of the birth of the world and commemorates the creation of mankind. They believe that it is a judgment day when God decides what tools and blessings people will have in the year to come.

The Jewish communities celebrate with a festive meal and symbolic dishes such as honey cake and apples dipped in honey to signal a sweet year.

Rabbi Yehuda Cietlin said, “We bid farewell to a year full of evils and challenges, but we also greet it with the great explosion of a shofar. We greet the New Year with hope, potential and blessings. And we hope this year will be a sweet one and a good one and a healthy one and a tolerant one. “

Chabad Tucson will hold a “Shofar in the Park” in Heaven Park, where a prayer for the Jewish New Year will be said on Tuesday from 5:30 pm.
