Christ and other Arizona leaders discuss the Tucson mass vaccination site

PHOENIX – Dr. Arizona Department of Health director Cara Christ and other heads of state discussed the opening of the Tucson mass vaccination site Thursday.

The website is the third state website to open. It is located at the University of Arizona.

All of the nearly 12,000 new appointments for the location were allocated in around 2½ hours on Tuesday morning.

Once the Arizona facility is at full capacity, it can service up to 6,000 people a day, depending on vaccine availability.

The school had already offered the vaccine to employees and students during the day.

The State Farm Stadium in Glendale, the first state site, is open all day and all night.

Phoenix Municipal Stadium, the second state facility, is only open during the day. Each has the capacity to fire 12,000 shots a day, but works below that level due to the tight supply.
