Coconino, Flagstaff Play Scrimmage Games To Prepare For The 2022 Football Season – Great Circle Media of Arizona

Both the Coconino Panthers and Flagstaff Eagles played scrimmage games Friday and Saturday as a final dress rehearsal before the start of the 2022 high school football season. The Panthers welcomed the Snowflake Lobos to Cromer Stadium Friday night. After a weather delay, the two teams traded many ten-play offensive series’ against one another. Enoch Watson tossed a pair of touchdown passes and Ryker Patton busted a long touchdown run in the scrimmage. The Lobos showed why they’ve risen to the 4A conference with a big line and talented running backs. Penalties were a problem for Coconino, but the Panthers have about two weeks to iron things out before they begin the season September 9th at home against the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets. Snowflake opens on the road Friday night in Phoenix at Northwest Christian. Saturday morning the Flagstaff Eagles hosted the Lake Havasu Knights. The Eagles are noticeably bigger along the offensive line and have developed a “no-name” defense where everyone flies to the football. Freshman quarterback Chase Brown made some spectacular throws during the scrimmage. He found Holden Sena on a long pass, only to have it come back on a penalty, but also made some tight throws in coverage for receptions and a score. The Eagles will work this week to prepare for their season opener Saturday night against the Camelback Spartans in the Flagstaff Kickoff Classic. We will have the game starting at 6:30 on KAFF Country 93.5/AM 930, online at kafflegends.com, or watch the game on the debut of our KAFF Sports Network channel on NFHSNetwork.com.
