RSL defeated the Rapids 3-0. With two goals from Anderson Julio and Damir Kreilach in the first half, Claret and Cobalt led 2-0 at halftime.
The second half included only Kreilach’s wonder goal, however RSL dominated from start to finish as it dismantled its rivals in the Rocky Mountains.
Outstanding players
One of the outstanding performances was Kreilach, who ended with a brace and looked lively in midfield. Pablo Ruiz distributed the ball sensationally, Andrew Brody flew up and down the right side of the field all evening, Anderson Julio showed his speed and threatened Rapid Rubio Rubin looked like a number nine to score double-digit goals in 2021.
Manager Freddy Juarez did not use his bench until deep in the game. The starters were given vital minutes to open their 10-day stay in Tucson, Arizona. Many of the starters are unlikely to make a huge contribution as they prepare for Phoenix Rising on April 7th.
RSL invited the Rapids press as they moved the ball off the backline for attack opportunities. They often went out of trouble and quickly found space to operate on their attacking half.
In addition, RSL looked sharp, serene, and crisp. They looked like a team ready to flip their fortune in 2021. The RSL players made very few mistakes, which is rare given the lack of preparatory games.
Increasing game in danger
However, reports surfaced that the Rising were embroiled in a COVID cluster as their game against the Seattle Sounders is in jeopardy. You should play on Sunday April 4th.
