Directors of the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix, JCF to integrate organizations

The Boards of Directors of the Greater Phoenix Jewish Federation and the Greater Phoenix Jewish Community Foundation have unanimously decided to integrate the organizations into a single operational unit.

The Greater Phoenix Jewish Federation and Greater Phoenix Jewish Community Foundation “have served the Phoenix community well for decades,” according to a press release listing the two organizations.

The organizations have complementary business models and overlapping missions that focus on local Jewish philanthropy and helping the Jewish community.

The boards of each organization agreed that it is in the best interests of both organizations and the community to join an integrated, collaborative structure by forming a new entity, the press release said.

“Central to both Federation and Foundation board members in making this decision was a commitment to promote Jewish philanthropy in our community,” said Jonathan Hoffer, chairman of the joint task force, in a prepared statement.

“The legacy of any organization is preserved as we strengthen our community’s existing organizations, programs, and social services.”

During the formation of the new company, Richard Kasper was named interim CEO, the press release said. He is slated to be appointed CEO once the new structure is in place.

Marty Haberer has been named Executive Vice President, Donor Services, reporting to the Interim CEO.

“The intent to bring these two Jewish philanthropic organizations together into one operational unit is to enhance our combined strengths and resources to better serve our diverse Jewish community in the greater Phoenix area,” Kasper said in a prepared statement.

“We will recognize the intent of our many donors and their belief in our common mission to support our developing Jewish community.”

In the meantime, a new board of directors of up to 19 members will be set up, the press release added. It is expected that the new board of directors will consist of six members each from the current association and the foundation board with three to seven members – large members who represent donors and the community.
