DMX is said to have been in a serious condition after overdosing

Hip-hop icon DMX’s life was shaken after the rapper suffered an overdosed drug on Friday night.

According to TMZ, sources close to the artist “What’s My Name” claim the OD occurred at 11pm. Sources added that the overdose then triggered a heart attack.

The 50-year-old DMX is currently in intensive care at a hospital in White Plains where he is reported to have “some brain activity.” Another source told TMZ that the artist is currently in a “vegetative state” and doctors have advised that he may not make it.

The Ruff Ryders MC has long struggled with drug addiction and was last in rehab in October 2019.

The rapper claims his addiction problems started when he was tricked into smoking by his mentor at the age of 14.

“I was in Yonkers. This guy, ‘Ready Ron’, was like an older brother to me, ”DMX said on his podcast“ People’s Party ”to his hip-hop colleague Talib Kweli.

“He would rap and I would do the beatboxing,” said DMX. “I loved this guy like an older brother.”

One night after the duo “committed a robbery one night … it was their birthday and we came back and split the money. I said, “Let’s go, get something nice for your birthday.” So he came back with a blunt curl and I count the money, he goes by[ed] the blunt. “

Holding back the tears, he continued, “I met the blunt and … I wasn’t focused on the money anymore. I’ve never felt like this before, it just captivated me. I later found out that he laced the stump with a tear. Why would you do this to a child? He knew I was looking up at him. Why would you do this to someone who looks up to you? A monster was born. I wouldn’t do this to my worst enemy. Especially for someone you supposedly love. “
