Do a thorough cleaning? The Assistance League of Tucson is taking children’s books.
TUCSON (KVOA) – It’s Action! Week in the Tucson Assistance League. And the non-profit organization wants to make sure that the local children have enough books to read.
The Assistance League specifically chose this week to honor the founder of the organization as this is her birthday week. The book campaign is about making students successful in school. This is how it works.
The Assistance League hosts tables in local bookstores to collect newly donated children’s books. The books are then distributed to those in need here in Tucson … it’s that simple!
“All of these stay in the Tucson area,” said Assistance League volunteer and former president Jannine Mathis. “That’s the other cool thing. Even though we’re a national organization, everything that happens in Tucson stays in Tucson.”
Action! The week lasts until March 1st. Until then you have to donate. Here is the schedule:
Saturday, February 27, 10:00 am – 1:00 am at Mildred & Dildred: 1725 N Swan Rd.
10:30 a.m. – 4:00 a.m. at Mostly Books: 6208 E Speedway Blvd.
Sunday, February 28, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at Barnes & Noble – East: 5130 E Broadway Blvd.
The Assistance League has closed its thrift store due to the pandemic. However, their plan is to reopen it on March 30th.
If you have any kind of donation, it is currently accepted Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Remember that you can always shop in their online shop too.
