Eric Adams (and his blazer) impress at Hamptons fundraisers

Hopeful Mayor Eric Adams met in the Hamptons over the weekend, where his political talks – and outfit – impressed insiders in the East End.

The candidate attended a Water Mill fundraiser on Sunday in a bright red blazer that would have made The Weeknd jealous – on Sunday in a private home. The party was hosted by a group that included Democratic support businessman Dennis Mehiel and Republican billionaire John Catsimatidis, as well as Victoria Schneps and Todd Shapiro.

The Co-Chairs donated $ 2,000 to the Adams campaign.

Adams told the crowd (which included Hampton’s mainstay Jean Shafiroff) about problems New York faces – from housing to homelessness, crime and education – “It all comes from the same problem, a dysfunctional city with dysfunctional agencies,” he said . “That will produce a dysfunctional product.”

We hear that Adams previously attended a Q&A at the Hampton Synagogue with Rabbi Marc Schneier. The community is becoming an indispensable forum for the New York Pols and has recently hosted Rep. Ritchie Torres and Attorney General Letitia James. We hear that New York Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul is expected to speak there next weekend.

Adams also took part in another Hamptons fundraiser over the weekend, hosted by Marcella Guarino Hymowitz and Colby Mugrabi. Attended the event by policy advisors and strategists Hank Sheinkopf, Ken Sunshine and Matthew Hiltzik, sources said.

One participant told us about this Adams lecture: “It was incredibly well received; he talked about the importance of all New Yorkers really getting together. ”One attendee at the Catsimatidis-hosted event was so excited that they told us,” Insiders said he had a 10-year career to run for president to run for office. ”

Adams – who appears to have nearly completed the mayor’s race – has reportedly selected United Way of New York City director Sheena Wright to lead his transition team.
