Everything points to the Browns imploding during the pandemic

The sister wives clan could not withstand the pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic. This hard time changed Kody Brown and his women.

As early as sister wives In Season 14, the downside of the polygamous lifestyle began to wreak havoc on the wives’ individual relationships with each other, as well as their separate relationships with family patriarch Kody Brown. With the onslaught of the pandemic, relations were brought to their breaking point. From Season 15, which documents the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, statements from family members were an eerie and ominous chorus, signaling the final dissolution of the Brown family unit.

Leaving AZ from Las Vegas to Flagstaff was a traumatic moment in Sister Wives’ history, and not just because it marked the end of the comfortable, dead-end lifestyle established by the show’s stars. Another problem was that family members could lose the security and closeness to which they had become accustomed. This happened when the Sister Wives stars were soon scattered all over Flagstaff. The result was several forced moves before the family finally settled down.

Living separately in Las Vegas, the wives gained independence. In Arizona, her desire to lead her own life grew stronger. The COVID-19 pandemic has only cemented these newly realized ideals. As a result, some women took their desire for freedom to the extreme without considering the negative impact their changed mindset was having on the rest of the family.

The Coyote Pass debacle

Well before COVID-19, talks about where to place the homes on the property (and the timeline for starting land development) resulted in a series of long and minor arguments between all five adults. Kody’s dream of having a big house was immediately dashed by third wife Christine Brown, who has been vocal about her desperation at being perceived as a neglected “waitress” since the series began. Kody’s vacillating opinions about his wives and his life as a polygamist led to an attempt to build his own residence on the land, rather than taking turns living with the wives as he had always done.

Two years after living in Flagstaff with no progress being made on the property, Utah decriminalized plural marriage, Christine strongly suggested that the family abandon their newly established life and move back “home.” The desperate offer was met with a plethora of negative reactions, leading to a devastated Christine tearfully exclaiming that she “…can’t marry Kody anymore.” In hindsight, it might have been in their best interest to return to the haven of polygamists to quarantine together.

Ysabel Brown’s Surgery

The way Kody reacted to the timing of Ysabel Brown’s surgery was met with overwhelming disdain and outrage from family members and fans alike. He was particularly slandered since at the same time he happily sent Janelle to North Carolina for baby Evie’s surgery. Ysabel broke down in tears when Kody suggested making the trip alone, leading to an embittered Christine adamantly declaring that she would not allow it. Christine already felt that she and her children were being ignored and treated unfairly by Kody, and the controversy over his comments and his apathetic attitude toward Ysabel’s pain only reinforced those beliefs.

Although Ysabel was mature enough to realize that her father was “in charge” of the entire family, she also pointed out that the entire family did not have major surgery. Fans believe the situation was unfortunate as Kody reacted unkindly, but none of the other adults in Ysabel’s life (other than her mother) made an effort to be with her. Even sadder was the fact that several of the Brown children self-quarantined so they could visit Ysabel while she recovered.

Kody’s apathy over polygamy

Kody Brown in Sister Wives

During the pandemic, fans have noticed a very disturbing shift in attitude towards Kody, particularly when it comes to polygamy. Kody himself stated, “…we started an experiment that failed, and Covid kind of underscored that.” Fans have accused him of favoritism for years, and despite the criticism he’s received, it seems like Kody chose his favorite wife . She tends to leave polygamy behind. He admittedly isn’t romantically involved with his first wife, Meri Brown, and fans have speculated for years that he and Janelle Brown are no longer intimate. Now, with the departure of his third wife, Christine, the Brown family breaks up sister wives seems to have lost the ball. Perhaps this delicate act of juggling was doomed to fail.
