Parents behind the “Adopt-a-Grad” project for Vacaville’s graduating class from 2021 now have their own Facebook page for the participants.

The people in the latter group decided to get involved and find a fun way to motivate graduates from all Vacaville high schools as the pandemic resulted in them losing their senior high school year and all related milestones .

“It’s just an uplifting and really cool thing,” advised Summyr Fien, a project organizer.

The project is apparently a nationwide and very successful project.

It works like this:

Join the project page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/145062130787424.

Post a photo of your senior along with a blurb about them, their likes, and maybe dislikes.

If someone “adopts” them, they agree to give one or more gifts at their own discretion and to make arrangements with the senior’s parents via direct message for delivery. It is up to the giver whether secrecy is maintained.

“Accepted” graduates are noted as well as “available” graduates. One person can adopt more than one student, the organizers said.

Donations are also welcome and can be made to the Parent Teachers Club at Vacaville High School, 100 West Monte Vista Ave., Vacaville. Warning: Adopt-a-Degree. Donations are tax deductible and receipts are available upon request.
