Fireman injured in house fire in East Phoenix

A firefighter was injured and two units were destroyed in an apartment fire in Phoenix on Thursday evening.

The fire occurred in a two-story apartment building around 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of 32nd Street and McDowell Road. When the crews arrived, a unit on the first floor was burning with flames that extended to the second floor.

The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire before it spread to other residential units.

A firefighter sustained several burns to his hand and face during the fire. He has been admitted to a local hospital in stable condition and is expected to recover. No other injuries were reported in the fire.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
