After suffering a tough loss to Notre Dame Prep # 2 last Wednesday, the 4A Conference Flagstaff girls’ soccer team returned to their home field for the last time in this unorthodox 2020-21 season and scored a win.
The fourth placed Eagles were in good shape on their way to a 3-1 win on Tuesday against Estrella Foothills # 8. The Eagles have improved to 8: 3 and want to enter the playoffs with one game left in the regular season.
The Eagles played their normal ball style, aggressively attacking the opposing net and looking for ways to get good shots on goal. Junior Morgan Caslin opened the game 10 minutes after the start of the game with a hard shot from 15 yards that made them look easy.
Despite their aggressive game, the Eagles were surprised by the visiting wolves, as they were able to react fairly quickly with a goal of their own after a breakaway game.
The Eagles checked themselves and immediately went back to work trying to get the lead and momentum back in their favor. Junior Karina Fuhrmann gave the answer in the first half when she was able to slip through the wolves’ defensive line to prepare for a shot that hit 10 meters from the end of the net and stayed 17 minutes in the half.
Fuhrmann wasn’t done yet as she was able to get an runaway shot on goal and use the capital. She scored in half of the goal area five minutes from time to finally put Flagstaff 3-1 ahead.
