Flagstaff High School coach Holly Jones on paid vacation on bullying surface allegations – KAFF News – Flagstaff

Holly Jones, the girl’s soccer coach at Flagstaff High School, is on paid administrative leave and will be fired from the Flagstaff Unified School District if allegations of bullying prove true. That was decided by the FUSD board of directors last Tuesday. Prosecutor Don Johnson told the board that Jones had “sent extensive and repetitive texts, emails, verbal communications and personal interactions, which she continued after repeated requests not to do so.” Jones’ allegations did not come from one or more students. The administration has hired a personal investigator to investigate the allegations. Johnson said, “The investigation found findings and conclusions that Ms. Jones has repeatedly committed bullying, unprofessional behavior, repeated insubordination, and repeated disregard of her manager’s instructions regarding certain issues.” He said in at least one case someone had been around feared their personal safety and called the police. Johnson adds, “Violations include: bullying, creating a hostile work environment, creating an unsustainable work environment with her manager, and breaking her professional contract with the county.” Before the board discussed the allegations, they read many positive comments about Jones and her legacy as a football coach at Flagstaff. One of the comments came from former NAU soccer coach Andre Luciano, who said: “I have incredible respect for what she has achieved during her time at Flagstaff and I believe she has been an incredible asset to the community.” Jones was assistant coach to Luciano and was inducted into the NAU Hall of Fame as a player in 2007. Jones was named AIA Small School Girls Soccer Coach of the Year in 2020 after the Flagstaff Eagles won the 4A State Championship, which was their third state coaching title at Flag High. Jones has until July 23 to appeal the board’s decision.
