Flagstaff is reintroducing the mask requirement in city facilities
The city of Flagstaff will again require the wearing of masks in city facilities due to an increase in the transmission of COVID-19 in the community.
The change will take effect tomorrow (Friday, July 30th) at 6:00 a.m. In a press release today, city officials say the new requirement is in line with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s new guidelines that fully vaccinated individuals wear masks in public spaces in areas of significant or high transmission. The CDC has designated Coconino County as a “significant carry-over” area. The new requirement only applies to municipal institutions and not to private companies or institutions that still have the option to require masks in their buildings. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html.
Other Arizona cities are also making a return to masking requirements in official buildings, including Tucson, Phoenix, Peoria, and Tempe. Governor Doug Ducey maintains his position against the mask requirement in public and advocates vaccinations instead.
