TUCSON, AZ – Heading back to Tucson, according to the National Weather Service, with the possibility of heavy snowfall in the nearby mountains.
Isolated showers are expected to hit Tucson on Thursday night, with New Year’s Eve likely to turn on and off, with possible brief cases of heavy downpours. According to the forecast of the weather service, there is a 90 percent chance of rain during the day on Friday and a 100 percent chance of rain on Friday evening.
Rainfall totals are expected to be between a quarter of an inch and up to 1 inch by Saturday.
Snow is expected at altitudes of 8,000-8,500 feet starting Thursday evening, with snow expected at altitudes of 6,500-7,000 feet from Friday afternoon through evening.
The expected high on New Year’s Eve in Tucson is 62 degrees, with a night low of about 43. The expected high on New Year’s Day is 53, with a cool night low of about 30.
