Girls found dead in Phoenix are identified, no update on the mother

PHOENIX, AZ – The two children found dead in a Phoenix home Wednesday night were 4-year-old Royal McIntyre and 9-year-old Aleyah McIntyre, according to Phoenix police.

Police on Friday did not reveal any information about the condition of her mother, who sustained stab wounds that police believed were self-inflicted that night. There were no arrests until Friday.

The two girls were found dead in a bed in a house near the intersection of 13th Street and Mountain View Road, police said. A coroner had not yet determined her cause of death as of Friday morning.

The mother was taken to a local hospital for treatment for her wounds and police said she would survive.

When the first responders reached the house, a man was outside, according to police, begging for help. The man, who police said was cooperative, was arrested and later released.

Phoenix Police did not identify the man or woman.
An investigation was underway.
