Hog Creek Hustle makes its Commonwealth debut in 2021
Class 1 winner, Hog Creek Hustle, leads a field of seven 4-year-olds and competed on Tuesday for the 34th run of the $ 200,000 Commonwealth (G3) on Saturday at 7 furlongs on Keeneland’s mainline.
The Commonwealth will start as the seventh race in the 11-race program on Saturday afternoon with an EDT injury time of 16:24.
Hog Creek Hustle, who was trained by Vickie Foley and owned by Something Special Racing, took Woody Stephens (G1) in 2019 and started the final two races of the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1). Corey Lanerie has the mount on Saturday and will drop out from position 7.
Hog Creek Hustle’s main competitor is Lane’s End Racing and Hronis Racing’s Flagstaff, with multiple tiered stakes.
Flagstaff, who was trained by John Sadler, is coming to the Commonwealth on March 13th after finishing third in Hot Springs (L) in Oaklawn Park, where he won CZ Rocket and Whitmore, the top two finishers here in the Breeders’ Cup last fall , left behind Sprint. Joel Rosario has the mount and will break off from Post 1.
