I-10, I-17 in Phoenix reopens early in the morning after a fatal accident

PHOENIX – Interstate 10 to the east and Interstate 17 to the south in downtown Phoenix reopened at 9 a.m. Monday after being closed for hours due to an early morning fatal accident.

The crash occurred near I-10 and 24th Street around 5:15 a.m.

All lanes of I-10 in an easterly direction were closed west of I-17 and traffic was diverted to I-17 in a northbound direction.

In addition, I-17 was closed to the south and traffic on I-10 was diverted to the west.

No further information was immediately made available about the crash that caused the closure.

An investigation is still ongoing.
