IceHogs turn back the clock, beat Tucson as the Wagon Wheel Cardinals

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – The Rockford IceHogs celebrated one of the earliest semi-pro hockey teams in the Stateline. The Wagon Wheel Cardinals were based out of the historical Wagon Wheel Resort in Rockton. Saturday night, they got a 4-2 win at the BMO Harris Bank Center against the Tucson Roadrunners.

The Cardinals (IceHogs) got goals from three different defenseman. Nicolas Beaudin opened the scoring in the first, then Alec Regula had one of the most precious goals you’ll see all season in the second, followed by Ryan Stanton’s empty netter in the third.

This was their fourth win in their last five games. The two teams will rematch on Sunday on Pucks and Paws day at the BMO.
