It will likely rain in the Phoenix area on New Years Eve; Snow for Flagstaff
If you want to ring in the New Year outdoors, be sure to wear a rain jacket as the weather forecast indicates it will be rainy day and night in the Phoenix area.
You will see rain similar to that on Christmas Eve, said meteorologist Gabriel Lojero of the National Weather Service in Phoenix.
Lojero said expecting light to moderate rainfall, ranging from half an inch to a half inch, all day long on New Year’s Eve.
According to the weather service, there is a 90% chance of rain for Friday from Tuesday evening.
Although the holidays are still a few days away, Lojero said, “It is advisable that people prepare for the weather updates over the next few days as we refine the weather forecast.”
When the sky is cloudy, temperatures on Metro Phoenix are kept in the mid to upper 50 degrees Celsius, he said.
By Sunday, once the storm system is over, temperatures will drop to 30s overnight in the Phoenix area, Lojero said.
Flagstaff residents can expect snowfall. According to the weather service, there will be limited visibility and slippery, dangerous roads.
