James Sullivan Obituary (1945 – 2022) – Tucson, AZ
James A. Sullivan, longtime Tucson resident, passed away on July 28, 2022. Jim was born in Rhode Island on February 4, 1945 to James and Helen Sullivan. Jim spent six years in the US Navy as a Petty Officer 2nd Class and later moved to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona, graduating with a BA in History. He also earned a Masters in Library Science, during which time he met Laura Thomas; they married on May 5, 1979. Jim served the community of Tucson as a librarian at Tucson Public Library for 21 years and after retirement, he found great joy traveling the world with Laura. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul. Jim is survived by his loving wife, sister-in-law Joann Sullivan, brother-in-law Robert Thomas, brother Mark (Barbara), sister Mary (Robert) Turillo, six nieces and nephews, and six great-nieces and nephews. He will be missed greatly by extended family and many friends. If you wish to remember Jim, consider donating to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, Arizona Theater Company, or AZPM.
