Janet Stewart | Obituaries | tucson.com

Jan married Malcom Nebeker Stewart, a USMA graduate in West Point, NY, and a career Air Force pilot in Ft. Meyers, VA in 1945. They were posted together in Bolling Field, Washington, DC, at Furstenfeldbruck Air Base, Munich, Germany, and in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, and Lambourn, Berkshire, England. After returning to the US, she and her daughters moved to the newly opened (in modern times) Ft. Huachuca, Arizona, which was then under the command of General Lenzner. The new family loved the desert in the southwest and moved to Tucson after another visit to Washington, DC.

Jan is survived by her daughters Laurie Scott (Stewart) Haskett and husband Robert; Laddie Stewart-Hall and her husband Robin, all from Tucson; Grandchildren, Robert Lakenan Hall III, Annie Laurie Hall, and Teddy Hall; Great-grandchildren, Gabriella Hall, Julian Hall, and Sasha Hall, all from Tucson.

Our mother lived her life with gratitude and grace. Laddie and Laurie learned from her that the gift of community volunteering will be returned to the giver. The family commissioned FUNERARIA DEL ANGEL SOUTH LAWN, Tucson, with the arrangements. A private family ceremony and funeral, led by Father Peter Helman, is held in Saint Philips at Hills Episcopal Church.
