Jose Huerta Obituary (1966 – 2022) – Yuma, MD

Jose Luis Huerta

May 3, 1952 – September 28, 2022

Jose Luis Huerta passed away in Tucson, Arizona on September 28, 2022, after a long fight with cancer. He was 70 years old. Jose was born on May 3, 1952, in Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico.

His family arrived in the United States when he was 18 months old. He grew up in a migrant family moving to and from New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, California and Mexico. During elementary school he worked hard to do well in school while also learning to speak English. His family eventually settled in Yuma, Arizona and while attending Yuma High School, he worked before and after school at the Yuma Post Office. Jose graduated from Yuma High School in 1971 and was proud to say he was a criminal. At the age of 19, while at a friends wedding, he met and fell in love with his wife of 50 years, Nancy (Pancrazi) Huerta, a Yuma native. Jose was extremely proud of his 36-year career with IBM working as a service technician in both Arizona and New Mexico, retiring in 2011. He received several awards from IBM for his customer service, performance, and strong work ethic. He often stated that finding this career was the best thing that ever happened as it provided a better life for his family.

Jose and Nancy lived and raised their family in Yuma for 21 years before moving to New Mexico. Family activities such as golf, soccer, baseball, softball and basketball were constants over the years. Jose’s main goal in life was to provide better childhood opportunities and experiences for his children, which he accomplished and so much more.

Jose and Nancy moved back to Arizona in 2015. During his retirement he tried to master the game of golf, enjoyed rides on his Harley with his brothers, taking trips with his beloved Nancy, cheering on his favorite team the Dallas Cowboys, and playing the role of a wonderful papa to his grandchildren.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Susana Huerta. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Huerta, his children Joey (Jenny) Huerta, Jessica Huerta-Padilla, Jacque Huerta, Ernie Lorona who he considered a member of the family and grandchildren, Jasmine and Jianna Huerta, Alena and Austin Padilla. He also leaves behind his siblings Olga (Alex) Borunda, Asencion (Sue) Huerta, Gonzalo (Lucy) Huerta, Elizabeth Huerta, and Roberto (Mary Esther) Huerta, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

At his request there will be no funeral services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Yuma.

Jose left this world with no regrets and a lifetime of wonderful memories with family and friends. He would be the first to tell you, with a cold beer in his hand at a local dive bar or after a round of golf, that he had a good life and couldn’t have asked for anything more.
