Senior night was very special for the nine seniors as the Lady Badgers fed off the emotions of the evening, along with a rabid student section, resulting in a 53-25 thrashing of the visiting Cactus Lady Cobras.

Janie Rudy, one of the nine, said, “It was awesome. I think the support tonight motivates us so much. I was a little nervous, it hyped me up at first, but once I got on the court I was fine.”

There was a lot of energy from the crowd, (student section), that it transcended onto the court. The Lady Badgers came out and pinned the Cobras down early. Cactus was unable to solve the full court press by the Lady Badgers, resulting in an quick 10-3 lead. Prescott held the Cobras scoreless and had a commanding 17-3 lead after one.

Camille Magnum and Catie Lake were dominant inside, limiting Cactus to one shot on many trips, while scoring a combined six points in the opening quarter. Zoe Libis knocked down the only three of the game and with her second basket. Prescott has a 14 point lead after one quarter.

The two seniors were all smiles after the win. Catie Lake said, I was really nervous at first, but our student was great and it was a lot of fun.” Camille Mangum said, “It was fun to win a game on senior night. Our student section was awesome and it was nice to get a win with everybody here.”

Cactus finally was able to get some good shots to fall in the second. Cobras coach Austin Petcol said something and received an early second quarter technical foul. That seemed to get Cactus going, as the two teams played a pretty even quarter. Prescott led 33-15 at the half.

An extremely strong third quarterman sealed the victory for the Lady Badgers as Janie Rudy scored seven in the eight minutes, and Lake added six to bolster the home teams lead to 53-21.

The 32 point cushion led to a running clock for the final eight minutes, which made for a very quick quarter. Despite not scoring a point, Prescott won by 28.

Coach Jami Johnson said, “These girls have worked really hard this season, and I am just happy for them that they got it on senior night.”

The Lady Badgers improved to (2-16) on the season with the non-region win. Prescott still has a pair of home games in the Grand Canyon Region. Mingus will be here on Tuesday, and on Friday, region leader Flagstaff comes to town. Game times are 7pm.

Twelve seniors were given recognition for their hard work and dedication throughout their years as a Prescott Badger. Then it was time for the game, which the Badgers needed overtime to beat the Mingus Marauders 6-4.

Mingus, suffering through a six game losing streak, quickly quieted down the home fans at Bill Shepard Field with a goal just 1:04 into the contest. Hgiovani Lagunas kicked in the goal just inside the net as Badger goalkeeper Bryan Granados-Estrada stretched out in an attempt to keep the ball out of the net.

The Badgers, with 15 first half shots, scored only once as Oscar Munoz tied the game at one with 8:11 left in the half.

Prescott would have to work overtime, as the Marauders pushed them to the limit.

Mingus drops to (0-4 ) in the GCR, and (3-9) overall. Prescott (4-1) in the Grand Canyon Region, (9-1) overall, will visit Flagstaff on Wednesday at 3pm, before a final regular season game at Saguaro the following Monday. Start time is 6pm.
