Letter: Thank you Tucson School Board | Local affairs
I breathe a sigh of relief when my grandchild goes to first grade after spending kindergarten with Zoom. Thank you to the Tucson Unified School District Board for being on the safety side for children and staff by requiring masks. TUSD followed the evidence. The Pima County’s Health Department recommendation dated July 29th said that Pima County has significant transmission and “strongly recommended all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to K-12 schools to wear masks at all times during school, regardless on vaccination status “. Additionally, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Hospital Association report in their “Children and COVID 19: State Data Report” dated July 29, 2021 that the AZ COVID youth disease rate ranks seventh in the nation. When kids in AZ are tested for COVID, 17.5% of their tests are now positive. Of the 11 states that report AZ, the second is worst.
Thanks to TUSD for protecting children and employees and their families.
