Letter to the editor: Thanks to everyone involved after the wreck at Flagstaff | Letters
My sister and I were hit by an 18-wheeler on I-40 on July 9th. Fortunately, we were shaken, but almost everything was fine – the car was totaled, the truck driver was unharmed and angels seemed to come to our aid.
The fire brigade, ambulance and police reacted very quickly, closely followed by our tow truck driver. They were professional, compassionate, and happy for both of us, not so little old ladies.
Mr. Richard Paterson, our tow truck driving angel, picked us up from the freeway when the excitement subsided, helped us understand our next steps, and safely got us to a motel room for the night. He even rummaged around and found my hearing aid, which flew out of my ear on impact. Thanks again.
We were and are very grateful for all of your commitment to us. We cannot thank them enough. And we can’t thank you enough for running departments in a city that speaks eloquently of service, professionalism and care.
Police Commissioner Dan Musselman was kind enough to call me back personally to find out his correct address. He gave me the information from Major John Philpot, since the Major is the gentleman who owes the timely attention of the highway patrol. Thank you, Chief Musselman, for your courtesy.
We are back home, counting our blessings and looking forward to more adventures in our future. Please convey our sincere thanks and grateful prayers to everyone involved.
