“We have been taking part in the Gator Winter Classic for many years and made it through to the semi-finals in the top group for the first time. So it was an achievement to make it into the championship game and beat quality teams. ”Coronado (Henderson, NV) in the quarterfinals and a really solid Lowry team in the semifinals showed that we can not only keep up, but also bigger, stronger ones and beat faster teams, “said coach Tyrone via text message.

“Then in the championship game where Alyssa Harris didn’t play to put 19 back and make a comeback with Grace fouling four minutes before regular time, it was inspiring to see girls rise to the challenge and do their part. The Hopefully winning this tournament will instill confidence in us that we will succeed in the second half of the season. Morning, Alyssa, Grace and Sage all had great tournaments and several other girls performed and had key moments throughout the season of competition. “

Flagstaff (3-1, 2-0 Grand Canyon) plays in Deer Valley on Wednesday.

Flagstaff fell against a high-profile Notre Dame prep squad on Thursday on the final day of competition at the Arizona Soccer Showcase exhibition tournament in Chandler. The result was Flagstaff’s first shutout loss of the year.
