Flagstaff’s number 5 season ended Tuesday when the Eagles fell 3–3 to Salpointe Catholic No. 4 in the quarterfinals of the 4A Conference State Baseball Championship.

The Eagles took an early lead in the first inning when senior Sylas Clerry completed a triple home run. Flagstaff held his lead for several more innings, still 3-2 after finishing fifth.

However, the Lancers scored six runs in the end of the fifth and four more in the sixth to inflate the lead. Flagstaff couldn’t make up the difference of nine runs in the end.

Salpointe Catholic senior Dawson McHughes threw up an entire game that allowed only three hits and three runs while beating eleven batters.

Flagstaff, who won the Grand Canyon Region title that year, ended its season with a 19-2 aggregate record.
