Mary C. Morris | The irregular
EUSTIS – Mary Catherine Morris, 77, from Eustis, died in the comfort of her home after a long battle with idiopathic lung disease.
She was born on July 16, 1943 in Peabody, Mass., The daughter of the late John and Helen Birmingham. Mary graduated from Saint John’s High School as a class president and Salem State College with a degree in education.
She is survived by her children, daughter Elizabeth Driscoll and husband Brian, and grandsons Boden and Devin from Portsmouth, NH, and son John Morris and wife Jennefer from Eustis. Mary is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Helen and James Sellers; Sister-in-law Janet Birmingham; eleven nieces and nephews and their partners, children and great-grandchildren.
Mary was deceased by her husband, William Morris; her brother William Birmingham; her brother and sister-in-law Jack and Eleanore Birmingham; and sister-in-law Nancy Morris.
Mary worked as a teacher in Peabody, Mass., Vassalboro and Waterville for many years. After marrying the love of their life, Bill Morris, they built a beautiful home in Fairfield. They lived in Fairfield for many years before embarking on their next adventure in Eustis, where they bought the Pines Market. Mary has been welcoming her customers at the Pines Market reception desk since 1983. She founded the Flagstaff Area Business Association and was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Stratton-Eustis Lions Club.
Mary was lucky to be with family and friends, a good laugh, a nice meal, and preferably a boat. She enjoyed the “early days” at the Cape with great friends, where she met her Billy. She loved family gatherings and breathtaking sunsets on Snow Pond, and lobster and boating adventures in South Bristol. Mary has always been very happy to be around and take care of her grandchildren Boden and Devin and their beloved grandchildren dogs.
We’d like to thank the amazing people who made it possible for her to stay home in her final days: Jennefer Morris, Jean, Laurie, Patty, Emily and Taren.
