PHOENIX – Several mayors in Arizona signed a proposal on July 13 calling on state lawmakers to endorse Amtrak’s vision of a route between Phoenix and Tucson.
The route would consist of three daily tours of Tucson, Phoenix, and Buckeye, says Amtrak. It would take a little over two hours to travel between Tucson and Phoenix.
The proposed route will also have a daily round-trip transportation between Tucson and Los Angeles.
Tucson Mayor Regina Romero says the bipartisan infrastructure bill proposes funding for passenger transport that will help fund additional rail services.
