MCAS Yuma is investigating allegations of child abuse in the grassroots daycare center
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma announced Friday that it is currently investigating allegations of physical abuse at its childcare facility.
The Yuma Police Department (YPD) confirms that officers arrested a 27-year-old Tuesday on charges related to the case.
Neither MCAS nor YPD publish many details. News 11’s Crystal Jimenez learned that supervisors at the Child Development Center (CDC) contacted the police after checking footage from the surveillance cameras. CDC uses cameras to closely monitor all classrooms and staff.
YPD confirms the suspect was arrested at the daycare. According to the editorial guidelines, KYMA.com will not publish the person’s name until they are officially charged with a criminal offense.
The Yuma police also confirmed that only one child was involved in the allegations at the time.
MCAS Yuma did not provide specific details about the allegations. However, grassroots officials say they are working closely with YPD to thoroughly investigate the case.
